Self-care is a vital part of life that needs to happen regularly. Just like we eat every day to fuel our systems, we need to also engage in self-care practices every day to keep our tanks full. Why? To avoid burnout, stress, and feelings of being overwhelmed. When we don’t take care of ourselves, our mental, physical, and emotional well-being are grossly affected. We feel tired, irritable, and our immune systems may breakdown at a more rapid rate.
If you are someone who provides direct services (a clinician, teacher, healthcare provider, or simply a professional working with people) then your self-care is even more important. When we don’t take care of ourselves, it is difficult to meet the needs of others because we have not met the needs of ourselves.
In my retreat you will be reminded of the importance of self-care and the simple things you can do to increase your ability to care for yourself. You will be provided space to practice some core basics of self-care, in hopes to make you feel restored and rejuvenated. My retreat includes expressive writing and artwork, coupled with me teaching you some practical ways to care for yourself while managing your busy schedule. So if you are someone who needs to reduce your stress level, find time to decompress, and/or has a stressful occupation, this may be just what the doctor ordered.
